New Purchase & the End of an Era!

So earlier this year, my mom's Ford Escape rolled over to 240,000 miles and had finally had it. She had bought the car new in 2003 and it could be fixed, but it was going to cost more than it was worth. Since she wanted my car with 4-wheel drive, I went car shopping and got a new car at the end of January, and I love it!

My new car

Because my mom took my car, I didn't have to say goodbye to the one that got me through four years of college and two more good years after that. In college, I always had the biggest car, and I love to drive (might be a control issue ;), so we took my car EVERYWHERE. Since I got it, it has made numerous trips between Fayetteville and Fort Smith, a few to McGehee (Kody's hometown), a few more to Little Rock (Kody's current home), several trips to Dallas, Branson, the lake, and the river, it has carried more Delta Gamma stuff, luggage, and been through every move to and from college, it has been through the Great Commons flood, gotten me through feet of snow and ice many times (thanks four-wheel drive!) and another flash flood in NWA, and has been the setting for countless fun memories with some of my most favorite people in the world.

Don't believe me about the flood? Check it out. So it wasn't completely a flood, but it was pretty intense, and it did get higher after these pictures were taken.

The roommates' college cars -- Heather's bug, my Escape, Monica's bug. Can you see why I drove the majority of the four years of college? ha

It seems silly to be attached to something so material, but it really was a great car, and when you are in your car so much, it becomes a little part of you. Mom has been driving my car since January, and it rolled over to 190,000 miles this past month. Last week, my mom decided it was time to upgrade. I don't think I ever took a picture of my car the day I got it, so we had to get this one (in the pouring down rain, of course) before we traded it in for good last week. We had a good run, but it was definitely time to retire my car!

And Mom in her new car! She got a new 2012 Escape (the 2013 just isn't our thing--please go back to the old model, Ford!). We just can't get enough of them! :)

Better yet, our car salesman, Rick, entered us in a drawing this week as one of his favorite customers. Lucky us won the drawing, so we'll be headed to the Razorback game with tickets from Lewis Ford today! I can't wait to see what seats they are :) Let's hope it's better than the ULM game AND the Alabama game Kody and I attended last week!

Excuse Kody's facial hair. Thanks to a bachelor party this weekend, the attendees were all growing mustaches for the festivities. SO ready for it to be gone on Sunday!

I hope everyone has a great first weekend of fall (by the way, excuse the new fall blog updates--they're a work in progress) AND Woo Pig Sooie!!
