I can't imagine the prep that goes into hosting the Olympics. Special directional signs are EVERYWHERE to all the Olympic venues.
We traveled by Underground and found ourselves at Olympic Park. They were conducting Open Ceremony rehearsals, so there was no way anyone could get too close without a special pass, but luckily, the Olympics has an official shopping center and department store (who knew?) right outside Olympic Park. The mall was so nice -clean, modern, the best stores, and really, just a welcome back to an actual mall after about a month without one ;)
Westfield Shopping Center
After lunch at M&S (really good and such a cool store-can we get one in America, please?), we headed to John Lewis - official department store of the Olympics and the official viewing area of Olympic Park.
The building with the rings on it is the aquatic center
That crazy monument is called the Orbit - visitors will be able to climb to the observation deck on top.
The long building with the bubbled up rooftop is the water polo arena and the one in the very back is Olympic Stadium.
Back inside John Lewis - entirely built from Legos!
We shopped our way back down to the outside - not too hard to do :)
Bobbies!
Bridge back to Stratford Station (the station was later shut down due to heat - London has had its hottest three days of the year the three days we were here, all of like 86 degrees).
We made it back no problem even though we can tell London is much more crowded than when we were here a few weeks ago, but I can't imagine being here later this week - it will definitely be crazy. Luckily, Londoners seem pretty efficient and organized, so I'm sure they'll get it all figured out! It is their third time to host, after all.
