And 12+ long travel hours later, we arrived in Paris at 1 am our time, 730 am Paris time. The first thing we learned at CDG is that the French aren't so concerned with the organization that we are. Also, they have interesting bathrooms.
After a bit of a frustrating line through customs and baggage claim, we made it to the train we needed to get to our hotel. And we made our first mistake and I had my first sleep deprived meltdown. We figured out the train we needed, hopped on as the doors shut, and Kody was left on the platform with my very flowery luggage. We talked before we left the states about having a plan for this situation. Unfortunately, Kody had no idea where we were going or what the plan was. Our mistake and scary when we don't have cell phones About 40 long minutes later, we finally found him at the Luxembourg station. Talk about stressful. But we learned and now we have a plan should it happen again.
Anyway, we moved on and found the place we are staying in the Latin Quarter. I'm blogging from the courtyard now.
We dropped off our luggage and headed out to beat the jet lag. The Pantheon is about a 2 minute walk from us, so sleep deprived as we were, we went to explore. It was beautiful.
We also explored our area of Paris.
And headed to Luxemborg Garden. Beautiful.
And finally, ended the day with delicious pizza.
We were exhausted, but managed to beat the jet lag for the most part (aside from waking up at 5 am local time), and we're able to get acquainted with our area. And I can't forget to mention how awesome the weather is -- 70s for the high in July?! Love it. Stay tuned--we visited the Eiffel Tower today and it was unbelievable!
